Often planning permission for a asphalt tennis courts are refused for many reasons, the costs can also be soaring and unjustifiable. There are alternatives that can be utilized for tennis, croquet, bowls and perhaps a putting green.
Grass courts constructed to specific standards can be more rewarding than a asphalt court and bring vast benefits to any garden.
With any new tennis court construction there will be the need to excavate soils for laying a new base and drainage, with a grass court the structure is similar but using and cost effective and different materials.
The ground is excavated to a required depth, this is dependent on the existing soil type and draining issues. Drainage is laid down in accordance with a survey and then we re-build the soil layers using specialised sports turf soils, this gives excellent drainage, abundant root growth for the turf and hard wearing soils without undulations. During this process we install irrigation if required, post holes for the court net and any other requirements. Specialist turf is then laid over the surface and after a few weeks of consolidation your new court is ready to be used. This type of programme is used in grass tennis courts, croquet and bowling lawns, the specifications are changed according to your requirements and the type of soil your garden sits on.
Grass courts obviously require regular maintenance and cutting, we build a separate maintenance programme into your quotation for the first year if required, this gives you peace of mind without any further need for extra mowing or lawn care.
